Grocery Store

The girls absolutely LOVE the grocery store.  They really do.  We've been taking them pretty much every week since they were two weeks old.  The employees at our nearby Kroger Marketplace go nuts everytime we come in with them, and always stop by to visit.

The girls like it too because they get to see the huge display of "nanas", and usually get a slice of american cheese or piece of bread.

We usually take seperate carts, because, well, they get on eachother's nerves after a while.  We went to Giant Eagle last week and they got to ride together.  This worked well about halfway through the store, then it was all over.  Sigh...

I don't know if I trust your driving, Kendall...

I'm a firm believer of not sequestering yourself when you have kids.  We get out often, because how else are they going to learn how to behave in public if we don't take them out?  Yeah, we have our hairy moments, but all in all, we definitely have more good than bad.

Make Your Own: Diaper Cream

My girls are unfortunately plagued with getting diaper rash all.the.time!  We have tried every diaper cream on the market, and none of them seem to work 'great'.

Kylie got a yeast infection back in August (otherwise known as Sick-gust in our house) and the doctor prescribed a diaper cream consisting of Aquaphor, Maalox, and Anti-Fungal foot cream.  Unfortunately, my insurance company would not pay for the pharmacy to mix this up for me, so the pharmacists gave me the instructions on how to do it myself.  Mix equal parts foot cream and aquaphor together and slowly mix in the Maalox.  (The ratio is 1:1:1).  They also told me that they make diaper cream for rashes not associated with a yeast infection the same way, but just eliminate the foot cream.

Get your Aquaphor and Maalox

Whip air into the Aquaphor and start slowly adding an equal portion of Maalox.  (Below I did 8T Aquaphor to 8T Maalox) - Keep in mind this will get tiring!

 

Voila!

Day 5 – A Way too Early Wake-up, Chef Mickey’s, and a Parade

After our date night the previous evening, the alarm going off at 5:30 was way earlier than I would have preferred. I somehow managed to drag myself out of bed and get into the shower. By a miracle, we all managed to get out the door before 7 AM.  We took a cab over to the Contemporary, instead of taking Disney transportation.  That was one of the best decisions we made.

Chef Mickey’s was great. We are lucky that the girls are pretty good in restaurants (for the most part).  Once they get seated with a sippy and some food, they’re good to go.  I just cross my fingers it stays that way.

About 10-15 minutes or so into our meal the characters started coming around.  Kylie liked them from afar, but not so much up close. Kendall was much more agreeable and wanted to meet them all.

All in all, the meal was a success.  We decided to head over to the Magic Kingdom to see the opening ceremonies.  When we arrived we realized it was Extra Magic hours that morning, so we wouldn’t get to see opening ceremonies after all.  We were disappointed, but decided to go in anyway.

After visiting the Baby Change station, using the restrooms,and getting some Photopass pictures, we finally started making our way around the park. 

They were so entertained by the ducks!

Kendall LOVED it!

We rode both the Carousel and the Winnie the Pooh ride when the proverbial ‘crap’ hit the fan.  Kylie was over it.  All of it.  She pretty much had a meltdown in the middle of Fantasyland.  She would not walk, would not be carried, and freaked out in the stroller.  She was just D.O.N.E.  As much as I didn’t want to leave at 11 AM, I told Kevin that we needed to get her back for a nap in the room.  She needed a solid few hours of sleep.

My parents stayed at the Magic Kingdom and went over to Epcot and Downtown Disney.  It was their‘night out’ anyway.  We caught a bus back to the resort for lunch and a nap (I think we all actually ended up napping!)

When the girls woke we went to the pool for a while, which they loved.   After the pool and a bath, we decided to risk it and headed back to the Magic Kingdom for the Main Street Electrical Parade.  We both crossed our fingers and toes (and everything else) that we would not have a re-enactment of that morning.

 

To our surprise, the girls did really well.  After getting them some dinner we found a decent spot to watch the parade (near the exit).  I was holding Kendall, while Kevin held Kylie.  When Mickey’s float passed us,Kendall was so excited…until it started moving away from us.  Then she got MAD and started crying.  I was trying to stifle a laugh while comforting her.  It was the saddest, but cutest thing.

We got out of the park quickly after the parade was over, and caught a bus right away. The girls ended up getting to bed a little after 9 PM.  Kevin and I vegged out, had dinner, and got prepared for our last full day the next day.

Living Swing Style

OMG. Make it stop. Living in a swing state has been exhausting this election. We have been seeing political ads since at least March. The President and Gov. Romney have seemed to make Ohio their second home for the past two months. It seems to be pretty much down to the wire. Whoever wins Ohio will most likely win the election. And boy, are they making sure they can grab any possible vote.

Personally, my mind has been made up way before any ads started. Kevin and I have both been called by pollsters and both have tried to insinuate why we may want to vote for the other candidate. I am looking at this election for our girls. They are the ones who this is going to effect the most. And no, I'm not sharing who my vote is going to!

If you haven't already, make sure you get out there and vote on Tuesday! Make your voice heard. Every vote counts...
