Happy Birthday....to me!

So, ive been interested in photography for quite a while, but have not had the nerve to drop bouku (is bouku a word??) bucks on a nice DSLR camera.  Well, I just left it up to my hubby to do that for me, I guess!  Lookie what I got for my birthday:

Now I have to figure out how to use this thing to it's capacity, which lenses I want, etc, etc, etc.  I would love to take a class, but I don't know of any around here.  Or, when the heck I will have the time to figure it out!  I have fooled around with some things so far and have gotten some good pictures.  Hopefully, I will continue to get better.  At least the girls are good subjects. :)

Ahh.  Playing nice.

I was actually messing around with the manual settings and took this one.  Not terrible.

Love the static hair!

Sigh...

Warning! Highly Juvenile Content Ahead

**inappropriate language in this post**

OMG. Learning to speak in sentences has Kevin and I in hysterics most of the time. Two gems from Kendall this past weekend:

When going to sit down on the front porch..."Shit down!"

Pointing to her shirt with the mug of hot chocolate on the front..."Hot Cock!"
...it's hot chocolate, Kendall...hot chocolate...

The 16 year old in me giggles every time. Yes, I continue to be SO mature...

Cannot Even Comprehend...

I was at work on Friday when I heard the news of the school shooting in Connecticut. Stunned is the word I would use to describe how I felt. You never imagine that you would send your child, very young child, to school and they may be murdered. It is unimaginable, unthinkable, and absolutely heartbreaking. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected by this tragedy.

Last week was a long week. Kevin was out of town from Tuesday until Saturday. The girls were very good for me, but it broke my heart when they kept saying "Dada" on the way home from daycare, or walked around the house calling for him. They love their daddy.

Friday, a little while after I heard the news, Kevin called. I asked him if he had heard about it and he said no. I told him what happened and we both broke down a bit. I think we did what every parent was doing. Putting ourselves in those parents' shoes who were told that their child didn't make it. That kind of story is just a punch to the gut, and makes you question everything about humanity. How could something like this happen??

When I picked the girls up on Friday they both threw themselves at me and didn't want to let go. It's like they knew. I had never hugged them harder. Even Arianna (our daycare providers' daughter) gave me huge hugs. It was just what I needed.

Friday night I had a Christmas cookie party to go to. The babysitter arrived at about 6:30 and after giving her the run-down I attempted to leave. Unfortunately Kylie had other plans. She was hysterical when I walked out the door. I grabbed the few bags of trash in the garage and took them out to the can. I just wanted to see if she would calm down. She didn't. After the events of the day I couldn't leave her. I helped Jessica put them to bed then went to my party. She was more important. They are more important...

New things

I am amazed by how quickly the girls learn new things constantly. Some of my new favorites:

Kendall loves saying Ky Ky. In the morning it's "Hi KyKy!" "KyKy mulk".

Kylie is always saying sissy. Anytime I give her anything (an animal cracker, water cup, etc) she waits and keeps saying "sissy!" until I give her something for Kendall too. Most of the time, she taste tests the cracker or whatever I gave her to give Kendall (which is hilarious in itself).

On the way home from daycare they like to point out every truck and all the Christmas lights. "Hi Guck!" "Oooh. Bb whites" (which means Oooh! Pretty lights!")

The funniest thing is they are starting to grasp the whole potty thing. Sometimes I'll be changing a poopy diaper and throw it in the diaper genie, then one of them will yell "Bye poop!" I die every time. Kylie will also pound on the toilet lid and yell "Poop! Poop!" Seriously, this child kills me. Hilarious.

Never a dull moment.

Santa is...

SCARY!!
Santa fussing??  Priceless!
Both girls were in great spirits Saturday morning when we went to see Santa.  Kylie was even waving to him right before we went up.  Then the girl ahead of them started crying.  Done.  Game over.  There was no shot.
Just for reference sake, they did great last year.  They were probably the most adorable 7 month olds going to see Santa:

Eh.  This is ok.
Kylie's interested in the beard.  Kendall is saying "Don't touch that, sissy!"

Same Santa, a year later...HELL NO!

Merry Christmas!

Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde

Have you ever noticed how quickly toddlers can change moods?  One minute they are like "ZOMG!  Yay!  Fun toy!  I love this!" Then 20 seconds later they are all.  "WHAAAA!  Pick me up!  I'm MAD!  MAD MAD MAD!!!"  Could you imagine if adults acted like this?  I think people would have me committed!

For example.  See the below video.  Kylie is mad and wants to be picked up.  The next second..."Oooooh!  Bubbles!"

Here Kylie pulls Kendall's hair.  Kendall is pissed for about .05 seconds and then goes back to her ball.  It just cracks me up!

At least they always keep me on my toes????
