First Haircut

We were finally able to get Kylie's haircut today.  I was having major heartburn over getting it done, but we did it.  She got a fair amount taken off the back, but it looks so much better (and so much thicker!)  I was shocked that just taking a little off the back could help so much.  Hopefully it will grow in more even now.  I'm a huge fan of little girls with long hair.  I always had super long hair as a kid (and still do!) but I would like them to have long hair (at least) until they tell me otherwise. ;)

We've been talking up a haircut for Kylie for weeks now.  I think this helped HUGE.  She was so excited to go.  When we were called she got to pick her seat (they have different types of chairs, like a firetruck, an airplane, a dog, etc).  She picked the "Clifford" looking dog (of course!)  The hairdresser turned on Strawberry Shortcake for her, and we were good to go.  She sat and just let her cut her hair.  No tears, no whining, no complaining.  It was amazing.  Even the hairdresser was surprised.  (She did get us back by throwing an EPIC tantrum in the car as soon as we got in.  Reason unknown.)  But really, she did great.

Kevin was able to get a few cell phone pics, between chasing Kendall around.  All in all, it was a great experience, and Kylie came through with flying colors.  I was hesitating on getting Kendall's hair cut too since it's so short, but now that I saw how much better Kylie's looks, we may be getting hers done soon!  We got the "Baby's First Haircut" package, which included a lock of hair, a picture and a certificate.  Good times.

Updates and Family Photo Session

Poor Kylie has still been battling her constipation issues.  Poor girl.  Sunday night she woke me up a few times crying that her head, ear, and even hair hurt.  I felt so bad.  I think she was so confused on what was happening to her.  When she got up on Monday morning, she was in a sad, sad state.  Bloated, and crying.  Awful.  She didn't eat breakfast, but we took her to Rachel's.  When I got to work I called the pediatrician to see what they could recommend.  I got the dreaded answer...suppository. NOOOOOO!  This is not something I could see going over well.  I was officially dreading going home that night.

Rachel and I exchanged a few texts throughout the morning, and it had gotten so bad I thought I was going to have to go get her.  Then she called.  "Kylie just pooped on the potty!"  Whaaaat???  OK!  I think she just needed to get into the correct position, and she was finally able to go.  She went three times on Monday, once yesterday and once today.  So, maybe constipation is a segue into potty training?!?  Whatever works!  She's still having issues, but she's not uncomfortable like she was this weekend.  I am so thankful for that.  Poor thing was so sad.

Kendall has been Kendall.  Just her crazy self. :)  I found out Sunday night that she really likes raw peppers.  I was cutting some up for Kevin and my dinner, and she wanted to try them.  She asked for more, so I cut up a little bowl full.  She grabbed the whole bunch and shoved them into her mouth.  Well, at least I found another veggie she'll eat!

We had professional pics taken a few weeks ago, and here are some of my favorites.  I know I might be biased, but my god, these girls are beautiful.(And yes, she got more individual pictures of Kylie).  Enjoy :)

Random stuff

We tried to take Kylie for her first haircut this afternoon.  She's been rocking a pretty hardcore mullet for a while now, and I finally came to the realization we need to even her hair out!  I am a big fan of little girls with long hair, but we need to do something about how straggly her hair has gotten!

Business up front

Party in the back!
There is one kids hair cutting place we're aware of, and it's about a fifteen minute drive from where we live.  Their Sunday hours are from 12-4, so our plan was to get the girls there right at noon.  Unfortunately, there was a huge accident on the main road we take to get there, so we ended up getting down there at almost 12:30.  Needless to say, it was PACKED.   She said we could get in at 3PM.  Um, no thanks.  I just made an appointment for next Sunday.  One of these days we'll be able to make this happen!

Also, on the Kylie front...poor girl has been constipated.  I think it has been going on for a while now.  She's still been "going", but for probably the past week its just been "rabbit pellets" (for the lack of a better term).  She's tried several times to go today, and they have all ended in tears (with no success).  I don't ever really give the girls juice, but I randomly had a apple juice box in the fridge and gave it to her to help move things along.  I've heard prune juice helps too, but OMG, that stuff brings on my gag reflex from when I was given it as a child.  UGH.  Hopefully mixing it with apple or pear juice will help.  I have no idea on this stuff since we always have the opposite issue in this house!  Poor girls' stomach is all bloated, and she's barely eating.  I hope this passes soon for her. :(

On to me, I think I have a stress fracture on the top of my left foot.  We recently purchased a treadmill from a friend, and I have been using it 3-4 days a week.  I did about three miles on Monday night and felt fine afterwards.  Tuesday morning, I was putting on my skinny jeans and almost screamed when pulling them over my foot.  I tried to ignore it, but when the pain was still there on Thursday, I figured there was probably more to it than just being a little sore.  The top of my foot is slightly swollen, and after being on it all day yesterday, it almost reminded me of how my feet would get when I was pregnant.  If the swelling doesn't go away before then, I have an appointment on Thursday to have it looked at.  What a PITA.  It sucks, because I've been trying to get in shape for the beach next month, and being sidelined for a few weeks isn't going to help me on the bikini front!

To end on a good note, we went to the zoo yesterday morning and got a few priceless pics!  The girls LOVE the petting zoo!

This picture just cracks me up.  It looks like Kylie and to goat are both laughing!

So sweet

Four Generations

This weekend Kevin's parents brought Great Grandma out to visit.  Kevin told Rachel last Friday that she was coming, and she talked it up all day long.  We kept asking them who was coming out the next day.  They would say "Great Grandma!"  They had not met her yet, so we were excited they were finally going to get the chance.

When they woke up from their nap on Saturday, everyone had arrived.  They are usually very timid and shy when people show up during their nap, but they came around very quickly.  (Although, it may have been helped by the fact that there was snacks on the coffee table, and new stuffed animals and Raggedy Ann and Andy waiting for them!)

The funniest part of the visit was when we were trying to differentiate between Grandma and Great Grandma.  Kevin's mom told the girls that she was "Regular" Grandma.  Ooops.  That stuck!  For the rest of the visit they referred to her as Regular Grandma.  Too funny!

After catching up for a while, we decided to set up their pool and let them have fun.  Kendall wanted to keep going down the slide into her pool, while Kylie just wanted to send all her toys down said slide. :)

After that we enjoyed a dinner of burgers, pasta salad and fruit.  The girls had a blast, and loved all the attention.

The next morning, everyone got up and hung out until lunch time when the grandparents had to take off for home.  We made sure to get some pictures before everyone left.  We couldn't do without a good four generations picture!

Me trying to be creative :)

State Fair

Kevin and I have gone to the Ohio State Fair every year since we started dating.  It's a right of passage for us!  It's definitely full of "interesting" people, but we always have a blast.  We took the girls in 2011 (they were 3 months old, so they pretty much slept through the whole thing.)  We also took them last year, but they were in that tough stage where they didn't want to be in the stroller, and weren't entertained enough by everything going on around them.  I think we maybe stayed about an hour.

This year I knew things would be different.  They love parades, rides and animals.  Luckily, our fair has it all.  We told them we were going earlier in the week. Of course, Kylie remembered that we were going after they woke up from nap on Friday, and had issues actually falling (and staying) asleep.  No worries though, the lack of sleep didn't dampen their spirits!

Kylie's excited

Ahh.  Fair food.

Gabby's.  This is where Kevin almost always has dinner :)
The girls wanted to ride on the carousel really badly.  After walking though for a little bit and visiting the sheep, we found it.  They were so excited.  Here they are watching it while Kevin bought tickets to go on.  (I apologize in advance for the brightness of the pics in this post.  I didn't have the chance to adjust them yet.)

Kevin and I love this Ferris Wheel, but the littles are not ready for this yet!

Yay!

Kylie decided halfway through she didn't want to ride it anymore.

After walking around the "big kid" rides for a bit, we found Kiddieland.  The girls were so excited.  They had a bunch of little rides and a petting zoo.  It was perfect for them.  Kendall wanted to go on the elephants, so Kevin took her on.

Aww
Then, to my surprise, Kylie really wanted to go on.  We asked her who she would rather ride with, and she was very insistent that Daddy ride with her.  So, off they went!

I wonder who is having more fun?!?

LOL.  Camel :)

So cute
After we left the petting zoo, we grabbed a corn dog for the girls, a chicken kabob for me, and a few sausage sandwiches for Kevin.  We sat at a picnic table and enjoyed our meal.  I really do love this age.  It's so nice to be able to just sit at a table with them without worrying about boosters or high chairs. It's so nice that they can actually take direction and listen to you (sometimes!)   Kendall did decide to go backward off the picnic table right as we were about to leave.  Luckily, Kevin caught her by the arm, and she just ended up with a bruise on her elbow.

We split an ice cream cone on our way out to the car.  All in all, it was a perfect family evening.  We can't wait until next year!
