Trying out my new camera...

I've been messing around with my Rebel, and I love it.  I definitely think I need a class or lessons, or maybe just gobs and gobs of free time to figure out what the heck f-stop I'm supposed to shoot at, and which ISO is best.  Sigh.  I have a lot to learn.  I think I need a different lens too.  My camera came with a 55mm lens, but I've heard (and read) that a 35mm is better for everyday use.  Good thing lenses are so cheap.  (hahahaha *sarcasm*)

Yesterday we took the girls outside to play in the snow.  I took my camera out, but could not get the lighting I wanted for the life of me.  The girls were coming out too dark, and everything else was coming out blazing white.  This was shooting in both Auto and Manual.

...edited by Kevin, and ADORABLE...
Today my parents came by, and I took some pictures of them.

Mom and Kendall

Dad and Kylie (LOVE!)

Kendall and I (taken by Kevin...I would kill for her blue eyes...OMG)
I've taken some good shots, but have A LOT (LOT LOT) more to learn.

Kendall the First Born

Kendall is a true firstborn/baby A. She has a more laid back personality, is wicked smart (saying 4 word sentences at 20 months old), and is very headstrong. When that girl wants something she will not stop until she gets it.

At daycare she and our daycare providers' daughter have knock down drag outs daily. For example, yesterday morning Kevin dropped the girls off, and Kendall immediately went over and picked up a book. As she was flipping through it, Ari came over and took the book from her. Kendall shoved Ari and took the book back. Ari then shoved Kendall. Rachel (our daycare provider) said this happens all day. Kendall and Ari are so strong willed, and have no problems handling their own 'issues'.

Kylie, on the other hand, is much more submissive. If someone takes something from her, she'll just run to Rachel and cry. Rachel has pointed out that Kendall has no problems running to Kylie's defense and taking care of the issue herself. While I really don't want the girls shoving or hitting, I think it's absolutely adorable that Kendall runs to Kylie's defense.  She is the only one who is allowed to take something from Kylie (which happens a LOT).  No one else is allowed to mess with her sister.

Don't let this plastic bin hat fool you. Mess with my sister? I will cut you!

Stitch Fix and Online Shopping

One of the girls in a MoMs (Mom's of Multiples) groups I'm in, introduced me to a company called Stitch Fix.  It is actually a really cool concept.  You sign up, give your 'style profile' and they ship you a box of 5 things.  It is a $20 styling fee, and if you keep anything in your box, your $20 goes right towards anything you purchase. This is perfect for a working mom of young children who does not have time to go shopping. Or, really any mom who does not have the tolerance for taking tantrum prone toddlers to the mall!  I got my first 'fix' today.

This was pretty frumpy in person.  Eh.

This was actually cuter in person than in the picture.  Just not $80 cute!

This was cuter on than I thought it was going to be.  I was just not 'in love'

Loved this, and am keeping!

Ewwwww.  NO!
It was fun to get a box full of stuff just for me.  Kevin enjoyed the fashion show as well!  I'm definitely going to do this again.  It was fun.  If you are interested in trying this out here is my referral link:  http://stitchfix.com/users/signup/?referrer_id=3036145

Also, as a busy twin mom I shop online a TON.  (As I'm sure a lot of moms do).  I was tipped off to a site called Ebates a few months ago.  Go to this site first before shopping for ANYTHING online.  They have all coupon codes that are valid for any store, and you get cash back for your online purchases!  Seriously!  They will either send you a check, or deposit the money into your paypal account.  It's so easy.

That's my shopping tips for today!  I love talking clothes...

Valentines Day Snack Mix

I love Pinterest. I've found so many good ideas from there. I have made my own laundry detergent, many recipes, and am currently working on making a bow holder for the girls' hair bows.

I made this Valentine's day snack mix, and it is awesome. So so addicting. I omitted the peanuts because the girls haven't tried them yet. They've only gotten a few of the strawberry wafers and lots of pretzels, and they keep asking for more cookies. Funny girls. Definitely try this! Very cute and SO easy!

New Look

I decided to make some changes and get us more 'socially' networked!  Because you can never post too many things online, right???  (HAHA)

My facebook page currently has no 'likes', so please like me so I'm not lonely!

Quick funny story.  On the way home from daycare, we always pass a Bob Evans on the way.  I always point it out to the girls and say; "look - it's Bob's!"  When Kevin was taking them this morning, Kylie yelled "Hi, Bob!" right as they passed Bob Evans.  That girl is too much.  We have funny children...

More Music

My girls love love love music. They have since they were in the womb. I have a pretty eclectic taste in music, and love everything from Journey, Toto and Heart, to Toad the Wet Sprocket, to Alice in Chains, to Paul Davis. Really, the list goes on and on. When I was pregnant, I would be listening to my iPod at work and would put one headphone on my belly. That would always get the girls kicking up a storm. Right before the girls were born, "Rolling in the Deep" by Adele was a huge hit. I remember blasting it in my car when driving around the week before they were born. Coincidentally, playing that song was one of the few things that would stop a newborn crying fit in its tracks. To this day the girls will stop what they are doing and pause if they hear that song.

Kevin's favorite band has been U2 since he was a kid. He's been to see them live a million times (we've been twice together) and all of our pets are named after U2 band members. Apparently the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. The girls now love U2 and request "more more Youuu twooooo" frequently in the car. At the beginning of "Where the Streets Have No Name" there is a guitar intro and both girls yell "geeee-tar" completely unprompted. They crack me up. I think they are definitely going to follow in their daddy's musical footsteps!

Ignore Kendall's big boo boo from her run-in with the banister! Keyboards cure all...

I Can't Handle Puke

I have seriously had anxiety over the potential of the girls getting a stomach bug. It seems like all of my FB friends like to post every time their child pukes, and it seems like every kid in the world has had a stomach bug lately. I've known it was just a matter of time.

Friday night I heard Kylie cough occasionally and then cry out. I went in and checked on her and she was fast asleep and didn't notice anything else amiss. I thought she must just have a little cold. When I got up with the girls in the morning, I walked into their room and got hit with the smell of poop. It was unusual, but not completely out of the ordinary. I took them downstairs, and gave Kendall her milk. When I tried to hand Kylie her yogurt pouch she started gagging and coughing. I immediately ran her over to the entryway (off carpet) but she didn't get sick. I knew something was off.

She ended up eating her yogurt and had some water. When I went into their room I looked at her bed and noticed bright yellow stains on her sheets. Uh oh, looks like she got sick overnight. Mom fail. I can't believe I didn't realize that. I felt like an ass.

Although she didn't eat breakfast, she had a decent amount of energy and was running around and playing with Kendall. Around 11 AM she hit a wall. I put her down for an early nap. (She only slept an hour). Once Kylie was up, Kendall went down for a nap. We just laid around, and Kylie sipped on some water. When Kendall woke up, she wanted a fruit packet. Kylie copies everything Kendall does, so she had one too. Bad idea. It all came up when she woke up from her second nap.

I felt so bad. Poor Kylie was miserable. We managed to get a little more water down her when she seemed to be done throwing up. She went down last night without issue, and has been good today. It looks like it passed. Just crossing fingers and toes (and everything else) that Kendall stays ok.

Somehow I've realized I can get past my fear of puke and take care of my kids when they're sick. Kevin is another thing. If he's throwing up...sorry sweetie, you're on your own. I'll be on the couch.

Happy New Year!

Kevin and I had a rockin' New Years Eve.  We went to Costco with the girls to pick up crab legs for dinner.  After putting the girls to bed, Kevin made us an awesome dinner of crab legs, potatoes and corn.  Then, we watched a 24 marathon and went up to bed at 11:30.  We managed to stay up until the ball dropped, but were both probably out by 12:10AM.  Yes, we are quite the party animals!

Today, we decided to celebrate the New Year by going to Wal-Mart this morning and purchasing two potties for the girls.  Kylie has definitely started showing some interest in potty training, and usually lets us know when she is about to 'poot' or has a 'poot' diaper.  We're still in the "introductions" phase, so we'll see how this goes!  They are only 19 months, so I won't be pushing them hard for a while, but if they want to take the initiative, I am all for it.  It will be an adventure I'm sure...

Yes, she's a bit of a disaster here.  An adorable disaster though.
