Myrtle Beach Vacation - Days 2 and 3

On our second full day of vacation we decided to hit the beach again in the morning.  Every time I've taken a beach vacation we always seem to do the beach in the morning, come back for lunch, then do either the beach or pool for a bit in the afternoon.  We followed this "plan" during the first half of the vacation.

It was a beautiful day on the beach.  Kendall and Kylie were playing in their "puddle" and in the sand.  I'm so happy they seemed to love the beach as much as I do.

She's gonna get you!

My nephew Sam was throwing crackers to these birds.  They were so close and scared the poop out of me!

Kevin's sisters' family had to leave this afternoon (Sunday) because the boys had school on Monday.  We were able to get a group picture of everyone before they left.  The girls really seemed to like meeting their cousins. For the rest of the week, they would often ask "Where are my cousins?"  Too cute.

After the girls would go down for a nap,  Kevin and I had a tradition this vacation of having lunch and a mid-day cocktail on the back porch.  Is there really anything better than having a drink while enjoying the sounds and sights of the ocean?   It actually turned out to be the warmest day of the week that day, so Kevin and I went in the pool.  It was really the only solid day we got to swim (the pool cooled off considerably as the week went on).  The beach house itself was in definite need of updates, but the pool and back deck area were really nice.

After nap we all got ready and headed down to Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach.  While everyone else had to take care of some car issues Kevin's brother had, we took the girls over to the kiddie park area.  Kylie LOVED riding this car ride (I, personally, was not a fan!)  Kendall really wanted to ride the carousel and the train.

She's happy.  I swear!

Once we were all out of tickets, We met everyone over at a restaurant named Good Time Charley's for dinner.  We all sat down and had a nice meal.  Luckily, the girls were very well behaved.  When we were finished, we headed back to the house to get the girls to bed, and everyone else stayed behind to do some shopping.  It was a nice and relaxing day.

The next day was Monday.  We got up and had plans to go out on the beach once again.  Although it was cooler,  we made it out there fairly early. There was a chance for scattered storms throughout the day, so we were prepared.  The girls were playing in their puddle and on the beach, when we saw some dark clouds start to roll in.  Kevin's dad had a beach tent set up, so I ushered the girls over there.  Sure enough, it started POURING.  Kevin's parents, the girls, and Kevin and I huddled in the tent until it passed.  Once it passed, the girls were out on the beach again.  Then even more clouds started rolling in.  Kevin's dad grabbed Kendall, and I grabbed Kylie and went dashing towards the tent.  It down poured for probably 20 minutes.  Although we were steps from the house, we all huddled in the tent again and waited for the rain to pass.  Once it stopped raining we were able to collect our things.  It was about time to go back to the house for lunch and nap anyway.

**My camera settings were all wonky in these pics!**

We hung out around the pool during nap and chatted with Kevin's brother Ken and his girlfriend.  Once the girls were awake, we all headed to the Boardwalk in Myrtle Beach.  The girls really enjoyed it, and it got us out of Kevin's mom's hair while she made dinner.

Enjoying a snack on the porch with my two favorite ladies!

The Boardwalk is pretty nice, and we will definitely take the girls back over there when they are a little older.  We stopped and got their dinner and had a drink and an appetizer.  We knew we would be making it back to the house late, and they would pretty much just go to bed as soon as we got back.

Waiting for Daddy to get a cone from Iggy's (aka: Piggy's) Ice Cream
After enjoying the Boardwalk we headed back to the house for a dinner out on the porch.  I can't tell you how much I love spending evenings outside just listening to the ocean.  There is nothing more perfect or serene.  One day maybe....
